Young Scots launch post-pandemic pilgrimage

A group of young Scottish Catholics have launched a new pilgrimage to take place this Summer, carrying the relics of St Andrew, St Margaret, and St Columba from Oban to Iona.

The Brecbannoch pilgrimage, sponsored by the Knights of St Columba, will begin at 6am on the 11th of June 2022 with a Mass at St Columba’s Cathedral in Oban and will conclude at Iona Abbey on the 13th.

Jamie McGowan, one of the organisers of the pilgrimage, said: “This is a project of the new evangelisation and our own conversion towards Christ; each person on the pilgrimage has their own special intention we would encourage them to take.”

More information and tickets can be found at: brecbannoch.org

Tickets for the trip are £80, £60 for 22 and under, and £30 for under 16’s provided.

Anyone under 18 who wishes to join the pilgrimage must come with a responsible adult and the consent of their legal guardian.
