Vatican pulls plug on Biden broadcast

A live broadcast of Pope Francis meeting the US President Joe Biden has been cancelled at the last minute.

No explanation was given for the sudden change in coverage of the two men, though the Vatican stated it would release edited footage of the meeting afterwards.

There had been planned live coverage of Pope Francis and President Biden greeting in the palace and the beginning of their private talks to take place in Francis’ library.

Pope Francis and President Biden have met before, though this is the first meeting during Biden’s presidency.

This follows the Vatican announcement the Pope would not make a widely expected trip to Glasgow next month, for the COP26 UN climate change conference.
