Bishop Brian McGee of Argyll and the Isles will lead the Scottish Delegation to the Continental Synodal Assembly in Prague this weekend.
The Scottish Bishops’ Conference, which consulted every each diocese and group’s synodal submissions, will take its findings to the Council of European Bishops.
The synod is set to last from 5-12th February and will precede the global synodal report in October 2023.
Bishop McGee will be joined by Fr Gerard Maguiness, General Secretary of the Bishops’ Conference, Sr Anna Marie McGuan RSM of St Andrews & Edinburgh Archdiocese, and Mrs June Clunie from Paisley Diocese.
A spokesperson for the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh asked Catholics to ‘pray for the success’ of the continental stage.
“They have prayed and talked together, having reached out to those who feel marginalised in the Church and society today, and having invited participation from other Churches and Faith communities and anyone moved by the promptings of the Holy Spirit,” the spokesperson said.
