Pope congratulates Queen on her Jubilee

Pope Francis has sent a telegram to Queen Elizabeth congratulating her on her Platinum Jubilee, which marks 70 years of her reign.

Released this morning, the telegram to Her Majesty reads:

“On the joyful occasion of Your Majesty’s birthday, and as you celebrate this platinum jubilee year, I send cordial greetings and good wishes, together with the renewed assurance of my prayers that Almighty God will bestow upon you, the members of the Royal Family and all the people of the nation blessings of unity, prosperity and peace.”

The jubilee celebrations will take place from the 2nd to the 5th of June, with events taking place across the country.
